What is AOBA Alliance, Inc., Inc?
AOBA Alliance, Inc. (the "Alliance"), is the wholly
owned subsidiary of the Apartment and Office Building Association of
Metropolitan Washington. AOBA Alliance is a licensed broker in energy services
in Maryland the District of Columbia and Virginia. The AOBA Alliance uses its
resources and expertise to streamline the procurement process for apartment and
office building owners and managers.
What is AOBA?
The Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan
Washington, (AOBA) is the leading membership organization representing
commercial and multi-family residential real estate in the region. AOBA is the
local federated chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association
International (BOMA), the National Apartment Association (NAA) and the National
Multi-Housing Council (NMHC).
How do I participate in AOBA Alliance, Inc.
Offerings?
Your firm becomes a participant in AOBA Alliance, Inc. by
signing a Master Energy services agreement. This agreement does not commit you
to purchase anything, but provides a platform from which you may purchase a
variety of energy and energy related services. For a copy of the Master Energy

Do I have to become a member of AOBA to
participate in the Alliance?
No, you do not have to become a member of AOBA to participate
in the Alliance.
Can I participate in the Alliance without becoming a member of
AOBA?
Yes. However, participation is limited at this time to
apartment and office buildings.
Is there an application/processing fee?
No.
Is there an energy usage requirement qualification to join the
Alliance?
No. However, AOBA Alliance offerings are not available at this
time to individually metered residential dwelling units.
Who can participate in the AOBA Alliance, Inc.?
All owners and managers of commercial and residential apartment
buildings.
Who within my company would need to complete the necessary
paperwork to participate in the AOBA Alliance, Inc.?
Anyone who is authorized to contractually commit the company in
energy procurement savings.
In what geographic areas does the AOBA Alliance, Inc. offer
services?
AOBA Alliance, Inc., offers electric service within the PEPCO
and BGE service territories of Maryland, or the District of Columbia and will
offer electric service in Virginia as soon as it is beneficial to participants
to do so.
Why should my company participate in the
Alliance offerings?
Many companies do not have the in-house expertise and resources
to stay current with energy markets and evaluate offerings for competitive
energy services. Even many larger national organizations do not have expertise
in the parameters of the Washington Metropolitan markets to make well-informed
determinations with respect to competitive supply alternatives. AOBA Alliance,
Inc. fills this void without eroding energy cost savings for participants.
How can I learn about energy related issues as they relate to
my company?
The Apartment and Office Building Association has an active
Utility Committee that meets bi-monthly to discuss energy related issues. At
these meetings you will learn how to budget for your energy usage. Special
presentations are given upon request.
